Introduction

This is a companion to the Amateur Naturalist Initiative blog. It chronicles the little patch of nature close to my house in Danville IL.

As you may have gathered Winter Park is a sports complex, filled with ball and soccer fields and hosts a cross country running course.

My focus is the wooded area/open field along the running course marked A and C. This is known as Art Fleming Trail.

The wooded area is dissected by several streams supplied by storm drain runoffs which feeds a drainage ditch north of the soccer fields and eventually into Brook Creek. This is part of the Vermilion Watershed that supplies the Wabash River.
